On board the vessel it is necessary to perform various activities connected with loading/unloading/use of fuel, maintenance of fuel-carrying systems etc. At this point the following cases are possible: emission (leakage) and accumulation of flammable and toxic gases, lack of oxygen.

To ensure safety of personnel and of the vessel it is necessary to perform periodic monitoring of content of pre-explosive concentrations of flammable gases and maximum permissible concentrations of toxic gases in working area, and to track lack of oxygen conditions. Such control is carried out with the use of portable gas analyzers.

For oil tankers and gas transport vessels it is also essential to perform continuous monitoring of pre-explosive concentrations of flammable gases with the use of fixed equipment.

For all types of vessels fitted with diesel engines it is required to perform periodic monitoring of hazardous substances content and smoking of exhaust.

Maritime climate imposes special requirements for technical features of equipment, that is they are to be manufactured in “Marine version” and to have certificates of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and/or Russian River Register. FSUE SPA “Analitpribor” products comply with this requirement.

In sea and river ports, depending on the type of cargo handled, it may be necessary to perform periodic and/or continuous monitoring of content of various toxic and flammable gases. In any port there are fuel terminals where according to safety regulations continuous monitoring of pre-explosive concentrations of flammable gases must be carried out.

It is recommended to use distributed gas-analysis systems taking into consideration large areas of such objects; and because of a special climate formed by close location of sea or river degree of protection for the sensors must not be less than IP65.
